How I started this blog with easy-to-follow steps for us non-technical people

I just started a blog today. It seems weird to say that since people think of blogging as so 10 years ago, and now the latest thing is to be on YouTube. Don’t get me wrong… YouTube is a huge part of my life, I have so many people on there who inspire me (which will be in a post at a later time). To me, there’s something about pulling up Google on my phone or my laptop and reading an article that still makes me feel like I’m learning something.

So here I was, last week, with the rain slowly pattering down outside, when I thought “I’m going to start a blog.” I’m not a technical person by any means when it comes to websites, coding, all that. But that’s when I came across the first — and I mean first — helpful article about starting a blog that I have found. I stumbled across this blog called Pickled Plum where the author has a post titled “How To Start A WordPress Blog on Bluehost.”

I was wondering what the heck is Bluehost? And I was thinking about how WordPress is supposed to be easy to use, I just have never used it for my own personal website before. So I read this article, and the author explained everything. A question popped up in my head, and it was answered by the next sentence of the article.

If you’re considering starting a blog, please read this article. Here are just a few reasons why I find it so helpful:

  • A clear explanation as to why you should pay for your blog instead of making a free site if you want to make money with your blog
  • Why a hosting company (Bluehost) is important and what they can offer you — plus she even has a special offer for her readers!
  • Shows you step-by-step what she did to get her blog up and running

Not to mention, she talks about helpful tips once you’re on WordPress, so it’s clear that the author wants to provide a real-life way to not just start a blog but optimize it how you like, too, and she showed me that it doesn’t have to be that hard. I won’t reiterate what the author already laid out perfectly, all I wanted was to spread this information around since I have found it extremely helpful! If you’re thinking of starting a blog, start with the Pickled Plum article.

Let me know what you think in the comments and your insights on starting/running a blog! Until next time xo
